How to play Mosaic

Each number tells you how many of the surrounding nine squares must be shaded, including the numbered square itself. At an edge or corner, only squares inside the board count.

Choose ■ Shade, × White or Clear, then tap a square. A number can be on either a shaded or a white square. Decide every square to complete the puzzle.

Start with a 0: its whole neighbourhood is white. A 9 fills its whole neighbourhood. At a corner, a 4 fills all four nearby squares. Look for overlapping clues to work out the next square.

Keyboard: arrows move; B shades; W marks white; U undoes; Delete clears. Enter uses your chosen tool.
