How to play Mahjong Solitaire
Clear a layered board by matching pairs of identical pictures and labels. Look for the tiles that will become available after each pair disappears.
- Choose two identical tiles that are both free to remove the pair.
- A tile is free when no tile is directly above it and at least one of its left or right sides is open. A tile blocked on both sides cannot be selected for a match.
- Remove every tile to finish. Think about which lower tiles or side neighbours a pair will uncover.
Controls
- Tap or click a free tile, then its matching free tile. Select the same tile again to cancel.
- Hint looks for a route to finish and highlights a pair when it can. Undo restores the last removed pair.
- Use Tab to reach a tile button and Enter or Space to select it.
Nine fixed layouts include the original 28-, 48- and 72-tile starter boards plus terraces, bridges and offset stepped layers; free play uses 72 tiles. New boards have a verified full solution, but later choices can create a dead end. A limited hint search may be inconclusive. This is pair-matching Mahjong Solitaire, not a three-tile collection game.
