How to play Water Sort
Organise mixed drops until each colour fills one tube. Empty tubes give you space to rearrange the coloured layers.
- Choose a source tube, then pour onto the same top colour or into an empty tube.
- Each pour moves as many matching top drops as will fit. A tube holds at most four drops.
- Finish with one full tube per colour, leaving the spare tubes empty. A partially filled single-colour tube is not yet complete.
Controls
- Tap or click a tube, then a destination. Tap the selected tube again to cancel.
- Undo reverses a pour. Hint searches for a complete route when possible and tells you when that search is inconclusive.
- Use Tab between tubes and Enter or Space to select them.
There are 24 fixed levels: three introductions, eleven layered four- and five-colour puzzles, then ten five-colour challenges with one spare tube. Free play uses five colours and two spare tubes. Starting puzzles have a legal solution; a legal pour is not a guarantee that your later position can still finish.
Progress is saved in this browser on this site when storage is available. Clearing site data can remove it. There is no cross-device sync, and internet access is needed to load the game.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I pour into a tube?
Choose a tube with water first. The destination must have room and be empty or have the same top colour as the source. A full tube cannot accept more drops; tapping the selected source again cancels selection.
Why is my single-colour tube not finished?
A finished colour needs all four drops together in one full tube. Partly filled single-colour tubes still need to be combined. Finish with one full tube per colour, leaving the spare tubes empty.
Does an inconclusive hint mean the puzzle is unsolvable?
No. The hint search has limits. A legal suggestion without a verified full route does not prove either that you can finish or that you are stuck. If a hint explicitly says there is no complete solution, use Undo or restart.
